Magicians Impossible A Novel Brad Abraham 9781250083524 Books

Brad Abraham has crafted an action packed thrill ride with Magicians Impossible - a story about a wayward bartender, Jason Bishop, who discovers that he is the central pawn in a battle between the Invisible Hand and the Golden Dawn, two warring magical communities. In addition to solid original world building combined with fast paced twists, Abraham is careful to balance the action with some hard hitting emotional highs, excellent character growth and philosophical conundrums. What happens when everybody thinks they're the good guys? We can't all be fighting the good fight, can we?

Highly recommend for fans of thrillers, fantasy or action. Great YA cross-over appeal, too.

Magicians Impossible A Novel Brad Abraham 9781250083524 Books Reviews

The premise of this book may seem familiar because it is. We have an ordinary person who always felt a bit out of step with the world who discovers that he or she actually is special. Here the protagonist is not a secret princess or heir. Instead he discovers that magic is real and that he is an extraordinarily talented magician. Perhaps the most original aspect of his discovery is that Jason is 30 years old and not 12. The magic is kept hidden from the “mundanes” much like it is in the Harry Potter world. Like the Divergent books, practitioners are stratified into different groups by talents. Jason is unique since he has great ability for all the talents even with virtually no training. Like Nicholas Cage in National Treasure, he alone can see and decode mysterious clues. There are a lot of characters in this book and very few that I could care about. The villains are duly villainous. Brad Abraham’s Citadel is an unusual blend of portals, distorted space, and shifted reality that is hard to grasp even as it catches your interest. He has also created a thoughtful, brave, and likeable hero in Jason. Most of the rest of the many characters are less developed, including characters that are likely to be continuing in subsequent books. There are some twists and turns along the way that will keep you turning the pages. If you like a book that is predominantly filled with magical battle scenes and fantasy gore, then this is right up your alley. Battle scenes are never my favorite. Thank goodness that when balance is restored, the Louvre will be restored as well. I downloaded this book from a library website because of the title, the cover, and its availability. I may read another book in this series, but I will not seek it out.
It was ok. Nice premise using order and chaos. Nice mix of magic and mission impossible. Didn't exactly cross over into really good. I do have hope for the inevitable sequels.
Perfect condition
The main characters situation has been used to death by almost every author. (I know, there are only so many situations, but this premise is over used.) Other than that it was a good read.
This book took me totally by surprise. I had read some the reviews that said it was good, but I didn’t think it would be this good. Amazingly well written, action packed, and I really hope the author decides to continue the story of the characters in this book. I’ll definitely be looking for more from him.
I’m not going to summarize the book’s plot for all you potential readers scrolling through reviews; instead, I’m going to state that if you like action, drama, dark humor, and a fast-paced fantasy story...buy this book and enjoy the hell out of it, because that’s what I did!
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Fast-paced, lots of action, interesting characters and no shortage of plot twists. And the there are so many interesting locales used in various parts of the book that the author must be well-traveled or he put an exhaustive amount of research into various cities used as settings.

I had no idea what to expect from this novel, no idea what the story was about and where it would end up. It was an enjoyable ride that never got dull and each time I thought I had the story figured out, it tool a turn in another direction that most pleasing.
